90 Outfits From Your Closet

90 Outfits From Your Closet

Feel like you have nothing to wear? A stylist shows you how to make 90 outfits for 90 days without spending a dime! Learn how to create a full wardrobe out of what you already own.

"Why I tell my clients 'No Shopping For 90 Days' is because you need to know what's in your closet. How are you going to know what to mix and match if you don't know what's in there? You have to be creative and use the items you already have before you go out and spend money that you may not necessarily need to," says Kesha Scott, owner of Glam Authority.

To get started, she says choose eight key items for your closet.

"You always want to start with separates because they allow you to mix and match your outfits," she says.

Here is what you need to set in your closet's go-to section:

1. A white shirt

2. Denim pair of jeans skinny or wide leg

3. Basic slack black, white, or your favorite neutral

4. Denim jacket or denim shirt (or both!)

5. A basic jacket in black or favorite neutral

6. A basic A-line skirt in black or favorite neutral (depending on body type, this could be a pencil skirt or other cut)

7. An A-line dress in a neutral shade

8. A neutral flat or heel (or both!)

From there, Kesha says use the rest of your items in the closet to add pattern, color, texture, and sparkle.

While it doesn't sound like a lot of clothing, Kesha says it can create a lot of outfits.

"I found that when working with clients, sometimes less is more. Having a set of staple items that you can go to has always been the key," says Kesha.

Kesha says the key is remembering to be creative and open-minded.

"You have to be creative when it comes to your closet. It doesn't take a lot of items. You just have to use things that you have in there," says Kesha.

Here are a few outfit ideas, based on the pieces Rebecca chose.

1. Take neutral slacks (Rebecca chooses white denim), add a favorite white shirt (Rebecca grabs her white lace T-shirt), a denim jacket and nude wedge. Since the outfit is very neutral, add color with accessories.

2. Wear denim pants with a denim shirt, but before layering on a denim jacket, layer a sequin tank over the denim shirt. The sequin shirt breaks up the denim-on-denim and replaces the need for jewelry. Then, add the denim jacket on top.

3. Pair white denim with a neutral jacket (Rebecca's is tan) and add a pop of color with a bright blouse. Because white and tan are both neutrals, any solid color works. Then, add an animal print belt. The animal print is also a neutral!

4. Layer a neutral jacket over a neutral dress (Rebecca's is white). Then, add neutral jewelry in creams and tans for a monochromatic look.

5. Repurpose the same neutral dress by adding a blouse on top (Rebecca chooses blue lace) and transforming it into a skirt. Finish off the outfit with a colorful patterned scarf, nude shoe, and bangles.

6. Try texture on texture. Rebecca pairs her white lace shirt with a blue lace skirt. This works because the laces are different colors and patterns. Then, to break up the look, add a belt. For a more streamlined look from the front, turn the belt buckle to the back.

7. Rebecca takes her white denim jeans, pairs it with her printed tunic and nude wedges. To cinch in the waist, she adds a gold chain link belt. If you don't have a belt, no problem! Just take two long necklaces, hook them together, and create your own belt.
